Recruiting difficulties

Red seal

Canada-wide program under which workers in over 40 trades can have the qualifications they have acquired through on-the-job and vocational training recognized all across the country.

Regulated trade

Québec regulates certain trades in order to ensure the safety of workers and the public. To practise a regulated trade, a person has to hold a certificate of qualification. Work carried out using dangerous equipment or hazardous materials can endanger public and worker safety.

By ensuring that the people who perform this type of work are qualified, we can avoid accidents.

Section 30 of the Act respecting workforce vocational training and qualification therefore stipulates that:

  • Workers have to obtain the required certificates of qualification to perform certain regulated work.
  • Employers have to make sure that their personnel hold the certificates of qualification required by regulation.
